NEVER Give Up!

There is always a job - for someone who wants to work. With the loss of over 8 million jobs in our economy over the last two years, there are almost 16 job applicants for every job opening today. Don't be discouraged. Use that information to manage your expectations and to plan the exact work you need to do.
For example, I try to return every phone call I receive before the end of the day. When I leave a message for someone and don't get a call back from them, I'm not insulted. I figure they're busy and will call me when they can. I wait a day or two and then call them again. And I keep doing that until I speak to them. Perseverance pays off!
I've learned that asking people for a job makes them nervous and reluctant to return my calls. When I changed my message to say that I wanted their advice, they almost always called me back promptly.
Think about it. If you were in the position to hire someone, you would get a lot of calls. Some people you would want to talk to and some people you will try to avoid. Since not everyone has the courage to tell people the truth when we need help, we need to stay focused, make those calls with a smile so that people want to call us back.
Make smarter calls, not more calls.
