There is always a job - for someone who wants to work. With the loss of over 8 million jobs in our economy over the last two years, there are almost 16 job applicants for every job opening today. Don't be discouraged. Use that information to manage your expectations and to plan the exact work you need to do. |

I saw an interesting exchange on a crowded subway train yesterday that taught me a lesson. A large man was blocking one-half of the subway door on the D Train and didn't move to let people out or in at the West 4th Street station. The gentleman entering the train behind me said said to him as he passed, "Excuse me, sir, you're blocking the doorway - but then you already know that, don't you?" |

I believe in American ingenuity and resourcefulness. I believe Americans are the hardest working people in the world. If we stop interfering with the financial markets and let the markets work, we can take our hits, let the bad debts collapse, find a new level, and work on. |
Eye Contact

Proper eye contact is a vital skill that needs to be practiced. When we talk to people, where do we look? If I look from eye to eye, or can’t look into someone’s eyes at all, I look nervous or shy. When I avoid eye contact, it makes me seem untrustworthy. That is not a way to instill confidence in the people we meet. “The eyes are the windows of the soul.” Many years ago someone taught me that I should always look into someone’s right eye when I had a conversation. They explained that the right eye is the “eye of truth” and that the left eye is the “eye of deception.” |
